Laser Therapy and Rehabilitation

Laser Therapy 2011

Dr. Anderson has a passion for physiotherapy and has taken numerous courses on animal physiotherapy with and without the use of laser therapy.

Cold Laser Therapy has been used for years in human medicine and was not available to pets until recently.  This exciting laser technology works by emitting an energy wavelength that can penetrate into tissue to increase blood
flow to an area, reduce inflammation and stimulate healing.  They also release endorphins to help reduce pain to an injured area.

Cold Laser Therapy is non-painful and is used for a variety of cases but is most effective treating arthritis, acute and chronic soft tissue injuries, healing wounds or after certain surgeries to improve recovery.

We purchased a Veterinary Cold Laser in the fall of 2010 and have seen numerous cases dramatically improve with this technology.  This is a picture of Simba getting a laser
therapy treatment on his chronically arthritic elbow.  To see more about Simba’s story including x-rays of his arthritis, visit the “Past Interesting Cases” section at the top of the home page

If you are wondering if your pet could benefit from Cold Laser Therapy or other forms of physiotherapy, don’t hesitate to give our hospital a call.
